Diane C. Wood, B.A., L.D.O., A.B.O.C., N.C.L.C.
Board Certified Optician
Diane acquired experience in decorating and design in Palm Beach. She brought that background to the optical field when she joined her husband’s practice that served the hi-tech needs at the space center in Cape Canaveral. In 1967, together with her husband, she moved to Gainesville and established University Opticians, where she has continued to introduce innovative optical concepts and products with insight to balance and design. The dispensary has since apprenticed five opticians. She assisted writing the performance objectives and guides of the Florida Vocational-Technical Education Consortium of States, the guideline for optical education and licensing in those eleven states. She is a co-founder of CEDO, an independent continuing education organization now serving eight state optical licensing agencies. Diane has spoken at accredited programs on pediatric optics and lens applications for both CEDO and the University of Florida. Being nationally certified with the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLC), as well as a Florida Board Certified Optician, Diane attends seminars and trade shows regularly. This keeps her in close contact with optical product manufacturers in order to keep a current knowledge in the field, including the latest in frame styling, lens technology, sports eyewear, safety eyewear, and pediatrics.
